A platform is an operating system or a cross platform framework that
insulates you from other platforms. Platforms can support many plug-in interfaces.
These are classified differently than applications and libraries because
they are trying to solve larger more general sets of problems. I concede
that this is a recursive definition, but some of these "platforms"
are mutually recursive, like Escher's staircase.
