It was designed for porting SunView applications to X, and is only interesting if your program already runs on SunView. Sun is trying very hard to dump XView (euphemistically putting it into "methadone" maintance mode), and fatal bugs are not being fixed because fixing them would require a total redesign of the code, and that's not going to happen. It's a very bad idea porting Sim City to XView. To get an feeling for the state of XView look at the astounding number of bugs in /net/elmer.eng/export/bugtraq/bugs/grepfiles/xview, and run "xbugtool," which is the bug reporting tool written in xview, that itself is a showcase of xview bugs, mis-features, and cases of pathetic behavior that xbugtool implementors and users are resigned to live with, because they will never be fixed. We will do anything we can to help port SimCity to TNT. It will take a lot less time than porting to XView, result in a much higher quality user interface, and we will be a lot more responsive fixing any bugs you encounter using the toolkit. If you ask Scott McNealy, he will tell you that NeWS is the future at Sun. -Don
